“Oh, a wondrous bird is the pelican!
His bill holds more than his belican.
He can take in his beak
Enough food for a week.
But I’m darned if I know how the helican.”
Dixon Lanier Merritt
I’ve been hearing about Fli Pelican for a while now. The funny thing is I always liked the pelican (no, literally the bird, weird I know) so I thought it was dope when I saw the line.
The Pelican is strong
The Pelican is determined
The Pelican is Fli
What about you?
THE BEGINNING:
In the continued struggle to step above the rest, Fli Pelican’s creator, Nino, set forth a goal to capture the ears and hearts of people that truly wanted to hear and passionately feel a change in street wear. With influences such as Staple, Crooks and Castles, and The Hundreds; Nino found himself designing, not for consumer purposes, but for the sheer satisfaction of himself. “Fli Pelican” embodies the meaning that mentally one can possess wings to become superior to others and have the ability to fly away from any dire situation; only if, one focuses and puts GOD first. The Pelican symbolizes ordinary people—not flashy, but yet striking to the eye. This is why the logo is very sentimental to me; everything around me is festive and flashy, while I embody the ordinary guy in the middle.”
THE STORY:
The whole theme of the clothing line is comic-book based and revolves around a Pelican who gets the most respect, but is your ordinary “Joe”. The story contains many elaborate characters that are featured on each shirt, whom play a part in the everyday life of the Pelican. Each shirt will accompany a sticker to be saved for an upcoming comic book, whose date has not been determined. When all of the characters finally meet, the consumer will control the story with the collected items that he/she has purchased.
CLOSE:
In closing, we do not consider our line commercial or “Pop” and we would not like to be portrayed in that manner. We like being underground, which gives us the ability to touch and hear from all of our consumers at any point in time. This is one reason why we focus on the fashionable and target staying “Exclusive”—out of the reach of the world and in short grasp of the “Selected.”
